Last week, we catered a 40th birthday for 22 guests, and it was a brilliant afternoon. With the warmer weather finally showing face, the client went for our Alfresco Menu – and it was the right call. We started with an antipasti spread that set the tone immediately: Italian meats, a proper selection of cheeses, artisanal breads, fresh fruits and dipping oils with balsamic vinegar. Guests helped themselves, chatted, refilled their glasses and generally had the kind of relaxed start that every birthday should have.
Then the hog roast arrived. Slow-cooked, golden-skinned and carved right before the guests’ eyes – served alongside crackling, sage and onion stuffing and applesauce. Guests piled their plates and went back for seconds. Around that, we laid out heritage tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad, seasonal leaves, coleslaw and piping hot new potatoes. The vegan alternative went down just as well, because at Hog Roast Stonehouse, nobody gets forgotten in the rush.
And because it wouldn’t be a birthday without something sweet, we finished with a duo of our most popular desserts. Suffice to say the plates were clean before we’d even turned around.
