Hog Roasts Were Made For Celebrations!

Hog Roast OtheryEverything about a hog roast feels celebratory. It all starts with the sight of the whole hog slowly roasting on the spit, taking on a deeper shade of gold as the hours tick by. Then comes the unmistakable crack of crisp crackling as the carving process begins, followed by that moment when guests start drifting towards the serving table, drawn in by the smell alone, until there’s no resisting it anymore – it’s time to dig in.

Tender, slow-roasted pork, bubbled crackling, sage and onion stuffing and sweet applesauce all come together in the best possible way. Whether it’s piled into a soft roll or served up with a selection of different sides, it’s the kind of food that turns even strangers into instant friends and keeps people talking long after the plates have been cleared.

And after more than 30 years of serving hog roasts across the area, we like to think we’ve got this age-old delicacy down to a fine art.

So when a couple got in touch to ask if we’d cater their joint 40th birthday celebration, Hog Roast Othery was excited to get involved.

With around 60 guests to feed, the pair wanted a menu that offered plenty of variety alongside the main event, and Hog Roast Othery didn’t let them down. The beauty of a hog roast is that it goes well with pretty much everything, so we rounded out the spread with butcher’s-style sausages, plus a carefully considered veggie/vegan option ensured nobody was left out. The sides, as Hog Roast Otherythey always do, rounded everything off nicely – tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed salad, coleslaw, and a combination of sweet potato and classic fries, all ready to be dressed with salt, vinegar and sauces for the guests who wanted a bit of extra flavour.

From the moment Hog Roast Othery arrived on-site and immediately launched into food prep without missing a beat, the client was impressed. And once the buffet opened, their guests didn’t need telling twice – their plates were overflowing with delicious food before we knew it.

A joint 40th deserves a proper celebration, and a proper celebration deserves a hog roast. Hog Roast Othery has been saying that for thirty years – and we’re not about to stop now.
