There’s a particular kind of curiosity that kicks in when a moving van pulls up outside the house next door, isn’t there? Who are they? Will they be friendly? Are you about to gain great neighbours, or spend the next ten years exchanging stiff little nods over the garden fence? Most people just wait and see. One of our clients decided he’d rather do something about it.

When a family moved in next door, he decided the best way to break the ice was with good food rather than an awkward doorstep chat, so he got Hog Roast Haselbury Plucknett involved to help him pull it off properly. With just 11 guests around the table, it was a cosy affair – but our team still turned up ready to give it everything.
The Hog Roast Haselbury Plucknett team arrived at the client’s address on the afternoon of the 25th of July and had the grill smoking before long. There’s something about the smell of barbequed meats drifting across a garden that puts people at ease – and by the time the beef burgers were sizzling away next to the gourmet sausages, the group was already getting along like a house on fire.

Our Thai-spiced chicken kebabs and veggie kebabs went down a treat, and the BBQ marinated spareribs barely made it off the grill before hands started reaching in. People built their own plates as they went – piling soft rolls and wraps with whatever took their fancy, melted cheese, crispy onions, the works. On the side, a Greek salad and gourmet coleslaw kept things fresh, with sweet potato fries and classic chips for anyone after something heartier.
And to sweeten the celebrations a little more, Hog Roast Haselbury Plucknett finished by serving our heavenly homemade choc
olate-smothered profiteroles and a zesty lemon tart, which didn’t hang around long on the table.
Turns out you don’t need some grand gesture to make new neighbours feel welcome – just decent food, a relaxed evening, and the effort to say hello properly instead of settling for a wave on bin day. If you’ve spotted a moving van outside the house next door and fancy doing the same, Hog Roast Haselbury Plucknett would love to help you pull it off.
