If picking the perfect menu for a surprise birthday party has got you feeling a little stuck, don’t panic. You’re in safe hands. At Hog Roast Banwell, we go on about the importance of getting the food right no matter what you’re planning, mostly because we’ve seen how much difference it makes, and today we’re here to take that whole headache off your hands.
We’ve kept things simple with tiered dining plans, so it’s easy to see what’s on offer without wading through endless options. Hog roasts, BBQs and plenty in between, there’s something to suit whatever you’re picturing. Vegetarian and vegan guests are just as well looked after too, with alternatives that taste just as good as the meaty mains – so there’s no need to bring in a second caterer to plug the gaps.
Really, our whole approach comes down to one thing, and that’s helping you get the most out of your event through group dining that puts freshness and flavour first, every time. It’s how we’ve become the region’s go-to for events of all shapes and sizes.
Hog Roast Banwell got to put that into practice once again last week for a client planning a surprise 70th birthday. Forty guests, one very unsuspecting birthday celebrant and a brief calling for something relaxed with enough variety that nobody felt like an afterthought. Our catering manager Mark suggested the Gourmet BBQ spread almost immediately, and it turned out to be exactly right for the mood of the day.

Working the grill, he put together Thai-style chicken kebabs, thick gourmet sausages and our ever-popular handmade 100% British beef burgers, topped with melted cheese and fried onions for anyone who wanted the extra indulgence. Alongside those sat a veggie version of our signature sausages, plus grilled vegetable kebabs with optional halloumi and cooling tzatziki dip. Green leaf salad, homemade coleslaw and a mix of sweet potato and classic fries rounded everything out nicely.
The guest of honour had absolutely no idea what was coming but once the surprise landed, they were first in line at the buffet – closely followed by everyone else. And with that much variety and flavour on offer, it’s fair to say Hog Roast Banwell left a lasting impression.
