Weddings really are our bread and butter here at Hog Roast Claverham, with plenty of couples trusting us to handle their big day. And recently, we found ourselves at a nearby wedding with 120 guests where the couple had their hearts firmly set on our signature hog roast as the main event.
Determined to impress, our team spent hours prepping the hog, scoring the skin evenly, dousing it with water and working salt into every crevice before leaving it to sizzle away over a low flame. As the pork cooked, the juices dripped into the tray below, infusing extra flavour into the sage and onion stuffing. We also prepared applesauce on the side to cut through the rich flavours and had rolls and wraps at the ready for guests to build the perfect sandwich.
The guests’ response was just what we’d hoped for. They were all over the buffet in seconds, filling their plates and stuffing their faces. And for the small handful not fussed about the hog roast, our marinated chicken thighs, sizzling sausages, grilled veggie kebabs and vegan pulled jackfruit gave them plenty to get excited about too.
