The final weekend of May was a real scorcher; the skies were the bluest we’ve seen all year, and the temperature didn’t dip below 20 degrees – even as the evening rolled in. It was the perfect hog roasting weather, and as such, the Hog Roast Cerne Abbas team was busy, busy, busy!
Between dropping off an abundance of Gourmet Deliveries to eagerly awaiting customers, serving bespoke wedding feasts and handling chilled out birthday celebrations, our catering teams barely had a moment’s breather between events. But if you know us well enough by now, then you’ll know that we were in our element the whole time because no matter how challenging the circumstances may be, Hog Roast Cerne Abbas loves nothing more than being out and about so that we can share our gorgeous spit roasts with the community.
On the Saturday afternoon, we were invited to make an appearance at a local under-18’s football club; where the parents had come together to organise a post-match feast for the boys and the families watching the game from the sidelines. Hog Roast Cerne Abbas saw this as another fantastic opportunity to introduce the younger generation to the divine excellence of hog roasts and, so, of course, we couldn’t say yes fast enough when the booking arrived in our inbox!
With the heat very much on our side the entire afternoon, the Hog Roast Cerne Abbas catering team were able to shorten the cooking time by an hour or so, meaning we could squeeze in a quick morning delivery before journeying to the football pitch.
Upon our team’s arrival, the pitch was still empty, but knowing there was no time to lose our crew quickly launched into a cooking frenzy, which soon filled the air with aromatic fragrances of tender pork, salted crackling and beautifully seasoned homemade stuffing. Everyone was wide-eyed with excitement when they arrived to see the full-sized pig slowly rotating on a spit, but the game kept them distracted for the next 90 minutes or so while our crew finished off the meal.
After winning their third match in a row, the home team were in high spirits and more than ready to celebrate their achievement with a delicious roll of hog meat, which Hog Roast Cerne Abbas quickly served to the growing queue, and with plenty of food on offer, many made the return for an extra helping.
