Birthday parties come in all shapes, sizes and ages. And at Hog Roast Woolacombe, we love them all! Last weekend we catered for a 10th birthday. Alistair’s parents called us up with exciting news. They were throwing him a medieval-themed party! Wanting to keep on theme, Alistair’s parents couldn’t think of a better catering choice than a hog roast with Hog Roast Woolacombe.
Alistair’s parents rented out the local community hall to host his party in, giving the party guests plenty of room to play games and hold their medieval banquet table for their feast. The hall was kitted out to transport the party back to the middle ages, from goblets and stockades to a throne for the birthday boy.
The main event featured a fake battle, dividing the party into two teams. Alistair and his army were ready for conquest, dressed in chainmail, armed with swords, and mounting a herd of hobby horses. After a tense struggle, the birthday boy’s team took the win! Becoming a conqueror is a lot of work, which left the guests ravenous and ready to dig into our classic hog roast menu.
The menu consisted of cuttings from a slow-roasted pig, doused in apple sauce, with a side of stuffing and crunchy crackling, all served with a selection of bread rolls and wraps. Tangy BBQ pulled jackfruit was served in a bun with creamy coleslaw for the meat-free alternative, alongside freshly made salads and herb-dressed new potatoes. The hog roast was definitely a favourite, leaving the partygoers mesmerised as it was slowly roasted over flames.
