Hog Roast Lyme Regis is proud to cater many local events time and time again, either for private or corporate customers and their guests. Nevertheless, we are also more than happy to cater outside of Dorset when needed too, just like we did recently when we catered a wedding reception in Somerset, at the Sparkford Inn. You’ll find the Sparkford Inn in the stunning north Somerset countryside, just outside of Yeovil in the lovely village of Sparkford. It’s a gorgeous old coaching inn which is fully licensed for civil ceremonies and a great place to hold a wedding reception, too. The inn would look right at home on the cover of an old chocolate box, as it’s so picturesque and charming.
For this wedding meal, Hog Roast Lyme Regis was asked to cook our highly popular Menu 1 of pigs in buns (which is what we call hog roast rolls) for 130 guests. We roast the hog on-site at your venue, for hours and hours at a low temperature, until the skin is crispy and full of crackling and the insides are juicy and tender morsels that simply melt in your mouth. After the meat has a rest, we carve off the crackling and carve up the meat to fill trays of each, then add both to soft, floury bread rolls or wraps and top with our tangy apple sauce and yummy sage and onion stuffing – both of which are homemade specialities of ours.
We are often asked for extra dishes or alternative food and for this meal, we were asked to provide additional sausages and veggie skewers. When you’re planning an event, you need to keep in mind dietary wants and needs, and in this case, guests not wanting to eat the pork could enjoy the sausages instead and vegetarians could enjoy our kebabs that feature halloumi, mushrooms, courgette, peppers, red onion and tomatoes. We can even make them vegan by leaving out the halloumi.
On the day of the wedding, our Hog Roast Lyme Regis chefs Martin and Jane worked hard to ensure the food looked and tasted amazing and by 8pm, they were busy serving lots of guests plenty of tasty mouthfuls.
