On the 2nd of September, Hog Roast Bridgwater was proud to support a wonderful charity function held at the Bridgwater Cricket Ground. With 40 guests gathered at The Green in Wembdon, it was an evening filled with great company, community spirit, and, of course, an unforgettable Southern Slow Roast feast prepared by Catering Managers Rob, James, and Harry.
The hosts wanted the event to feel warm, welcoming, and full of flavour, and that’s exactly what was delivered. The menu featured three of our most popular slow-roasted meats: BBQ pork butt, Texan 24-hour beef brisket, and Cajun-spiced chicken. Cooked low and slow until tender, each dish was packed with rich flavour and served alongside a trio of sauces – our smokey sweet BBQ glaze, fiery Cajun hot pepper sauce, and the legendary hickory bourbon BBQ sauce. Guests enjoyed mixing and matching these bold flavours to create their perfect plate.
Vegetarian and vegan guests were equally well looked after, with grilled vegetable skewers (served with wraps, tzatziki, and sweet chilli sauce) and our famous vegan pulled jackfruit buns. The jackfruit, slow-cooked in hickory BBQ sauce and topped with crunchy slaw, was a big hit and ensured that everyone could enjoy a hearty meal together.
To complete the spread, Hog Roast Bridgwater served a range of freshly prepared sides. Guests tucked into seasonal green leaf salad, a generous helping of roasted new potatoes, and a mix of traditional and sweet potato fries – perfectly crisp, golden, and impossible to resist. Everything was served onto eco-friendly wooden crockery with matching cutlery, keeping the service smooth and stylish while minimising waste.
The evening was more than just about food; it was about community. Guests came together to raise money for a meaningful cause while enjoying the relaxed setting of the cricket ground. The team were proud to play their part by providing a feast that matched the cheerful and generous spirit of the occasion.
By the end of the night, it was clear that the combination of delicious food, friendly service, and a worthy cause had made the event a resounding success. Hog Roast Bridgwater was delighted to be there and looks forward to supporting more charity events in the future.
