For Emma and Steve’s wedding reception recently, Hog Roast Newton Abbot was asked to provide some scrumptious food for 110 guests at Stokeinteignhead Village Hall. This venue is surrounded by lovely Devon countryside, is modern and spacious and even features underfloor heating – not that we’d need it on this warm summer’s day. Stokeinteignhead itself is a quaint village and civil parish in the Teignbridge district and most of it forms a conservation area.
For this special occasion, we were asked to provide our Hog Roast Newton Abbot Southern Slow Roast Menu of marinated meats and accompanying dishes, as well as some extra food. With the Southern Slow Roast, you can choose three from five different meats, all roasted low and slow, and this couple and their guests would get to enjoy barbecued pork, chicken and Creole-spiced lamb. You also get to choose sides, and for this wedding meal this would include corn cobettes and sweet potato wedges, and we also provide fresh bread rolls and wraps and plenty of sauces. We were also asked to cook 40 additional sausages, so together with four different meat choices and lots of sides, no one would go hungry.
Our Hog Roast Newton Abbot chefs Jane, India and Amaya arrived at the village venue hours before the food service. The village hall had been decorated beautifully and there was a simply amazing wedding cake featuring the happy couple and their dog and another equally amazing cake featuring their cute children playing on the beach.
After setting up our equipment it was then time to set the pork, chicken and lamb all roasting away, which they needed to do for several hours in order to produce juicy, tender slivers of meat that would just melt in the mouth.
Many guests travelled from Yorkshire to attend the wedding and, just like all the other guests, they couldn’t wait to dig in. We had lots of compliments about the food and many came back for seconds, which always makes our day. While we’re proud of always ensuring a great job with our catering services, it never fails to make us happy that we’ve managed to make others happy too – and with gorgeous homemade food.
